what is carding?

Carding is a grooming technique used by professional dog groomers and dog show handlers to effectively remove the undercoat from shedding breeds.

The process involves using a carding blade, traditionally on a carding knife tool. The blade features grooves that filter through the coat, capturing only the hair that is ready to be shed and released from the follicle. But to use the blade correctly requires skill and practice in making sure its held at an approximate 30-degree angle. Once the coat is removed the coat will shine and appear healthier, promoting healthy skin.
